Six 'Totally Wicked' Pool Must Haves for This Summer

It's that time of year again! The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and everyone's thoughts are turning to one thing: summertime. And what better way to enjoy the summer than by lounging by the pool with a refreshing drink in hand? But just because you're relaxing doesn't mean your pool has to be boring. Check out these six 'totally wicked' gadgets that will make your pool the envy of the neighbourhood.

[1] Outdoor Pool Projector

With a bit of height and free software, you can make a simple projector into an augmented pool light show. Using free software, you can map out the dimensions of the pool and then overlay lighting effects, video or even sea creatures into your pool. If this sounds like an essential piece of pool kit, check out https://lightform.com/ to get started.

[2] Underwater Speakers

Whilst this sounds like a gimmick, underwater speakers are a surreal experience. Sound moves much faster underwater, so when listening to music, the sound is an exceptionally immersive experience. Combine above-water speakers with below-water speakers to ensure you don't miss a part of your favourite song when swimming. Under-water speakers come in a DIY floating option that runs off of a battery and Bluetooth or a more professional mounted option installed during pool installation and has exceptionally high fidelity. Often found in the pools of luxury hotels and resorts, it's hard to describe this one; you need to hear it to believe it.

[3] Laminar Flow Jets

If you are looking for a different way to add some lighting to your pool, look no further than laminar flow jets with integrated LED chips. Laminar is unique as a jet because the water stream is so perfect it looks like glass; add some coloured light behind it, resulting in a glass-like fibre-optic made only from the water. Advanced laminar flow jet units can also stagger the jet to create laminar slugs or bullets for an even more unique display.

[4] Laser Perimeter Alarm

If you can't get your head around installing an ugly fence that will cramp your style, look into laser perimeter fencing. It's a simple laser tripwire system that, if broken, an alarm goes off. And yes, the council has signed these off as acceptable before (with a few conditions). The laser is invisible to the naked eye, so you won't even know it's there except for the laser head.

[5] Underwater Safety and Security System

On the topic of fences and pool safety, check out Angel Eyes' underwater security system. The system detects movement below the water's surface and triggers a warning to your phone when the system is armed. It also has CCTV to watch the kids underwater while staying dry. Their advanced system uses AI to detect any danger or drowning situations and informs you immediately.

[6] Louvre Systems for the Pool

Louvre systems don't need to be only restricted to dry places such as the deck or patio. A swimming or spa pool is the perfect place for a louvre system. Not only will it extend swim time by protecting you from the elements such as sun and rain, but it also allows for convenient mounting of lighting, speakers and heaters above the pool. A louvre system will allow you to get more use out of your pool so that the weather does not dictate to you.

Whether you're looking to upgrade your backyard pool experience or install a new one altogether, these six gadgets are sure to make your summer the best season yet!
